A Titan Experience


It’s been a while since our last update on Titan Tactics, but rest assured: we haben’t been sitting still! Big changes are coming to the game, making it a more exciting experience, with much greater replay value. We’re calling it - the Experience Update!

Chracter stats are gaining a major overhaul and new stats are being introduced to the game, including stats that will allow your character to dodge an incoming attack! Another major focus is gaining experience and leveling up: When a character gains a level, they will earn upgrade points that can be distributed across their stats. This will allow for endless character builds. It will also involve great new and intuitive interfaces, consistent with the same old late 90s theme we all love :)

But that’s not all! As some of you guys no doubt already know, Titan Tactics is the third game in Team Potato’s tactics games series, all of them are game-jam games. As I’m sure you can imagine, jams encourage early results and quick thinking, but do not often result in a clean code-base. We are pleased to announce that the coming release also includes many bugfixes that are a direct result of cleaning up the jam code, creating a more coherent and consistent structure for the game, lowering our long-term maintenance cost and ensuring extensibility.

So what’s next? Well, without getting too far ahead of ourselves - one release at a time! We can give one hint of what’s in store next:

Mods! Our refactoring and code sanitation efforts allow a greater extensibility, and better integration with external tools. This will in turn allow us to load special game instructions from files outside of the core game - in other words: MODS. Much to look forward to!
